A new documentary series by the Boys State of Oklahoma will air on YouTube on Thursday.
The series, titled “Boyhood,” chronicles the lives of five different boys who have grown up in the state.
The boys have no real family and live in isolated enclaves, but their lives are a mix of school, work, sports and play.
It’s an unusual upbringing for kids in the country.
They’ve gone through some pretty dark times and now have to live with the consequences of the actions of others, said Tyler Dyer, a producer for the show.
It was born out of a real need to connect with people, not just from afar, he said.
